Neuleidemme pääraaka-aineena käytetään 100 % merinovillaa. Tuotteissa käytetään erikoiserissä luomumerinovillaa, puolipehmeää uutta ekologista merinovillaa sekä hienoa merinovillaa. Laadut on merkitty tuotekohtaisesti. Luomumerinovilla ja uusi ekologinen merinovilla tuotetaan Saksassa ja villa on peräisin valituilta tiloilta Etelä-Afrikasta. Merinovilla täyttää ekologisen ja kestävän tuotantoprosessin ja materiaalin standardit: Bluesign, GOTS sekä Öko- Tex Standard 100. Hieno merinovilla tuotetaan Italiassa ja villa on peräisin valituilta tiloilta Etelä-Amerikasta ja Australiasta. Merinovillalla on kestävän materiaalin ja tuotantoprosessin standardit: Woolmark ja Öko-Tex Standard 100. Kaikki käytetty merinovilla on mulesing free eli mulesing-käsittelystä vapaata villaa.

Mulesing free: Ilman mulesing-käsittelyä tuotettua merinovillaa. Mulesing on lampaan kasvattajien käyttämä kirurginen toimenpide estämään loiskärpästen lisääntyminen. Ilman puudutusta toimenpide on lampaalle kivulias ja sitä on kritisoitu vahvasti eläinsuojelullisista syistä. Bluesign: Bluesign-standardi kattaa tekstiilin koko tuotantoketjun rajoittaen mm. kemikaalien käyttöä sekä päästöjä veteen ja ilmaan. Sertifikaattiin kuuluu myös työntekijöiden ja tuotteen käyttäjän turvallisuus. bluesign.com
GOTS: Laaja tekstiilien ekologisuuden ja eettisyyden sertifikaatti, joka kattaa koko tuotantoprosessin luonnonmukaisesti viljellystä raaka-aineesta koko tuotantoketjun läpi lopulliseen tuotteeseen asti. Huomioon otetaan myös ihmisten ja eläinten hyvinvointi. global-standard.org

In our knitwear the main material is 100 % merino wool. Knits use special selection fine organic merino wool, half soft ecological merino wool or fine merino wool. Wool types are marked in the products. Fine organic merino wool and half soft ecological merino wool yarn is produced in Germany and wool comes from selected farms in South Africa. The yarn has been produced ecologically and in a sustainable manner. The yarn has been awarded Bluesign, GOTS and OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certificates. Fine merino wool yarn is produced in Italy and wool comes from selected farms in South America and Australia. The yarn has high quality and sustainable production standards. It has Woolmark and OEKO-Tex Standard 100 certificates. All merino wool is Mulesing free, so that mulesing treatments have not been used in the production.

Mulesing free: Merino wool produced without using the mulesing treatment. Mulesing is the removal of strips of wool-bearing skin from around the breech of a sheep to prevent the parasitic infection flystrike. Without anaesthesia the procedure is known to be painful to the animal and has been strongly criticised on the the animal rights bases. Bluesign: The Bluesign standard covers the whole production chain and as an example includes restrictions on chemical use and emissions. The certificate also puts requirements on employee welfare and product safety. bluesign.com

GOTS: GOTS is a textile certificate with a wide coverage of ecological and ethical aspects. It concerns the whole production chain from organically grown raw material all the way through the chain into the end product. Welfare of people and animals is also covered. global-standard.org
